If you do not have access to employer-sponsored group health plan, you may want to buy an individual health policy from a private health insurance company. However, in U.S. – as in most other states – you have limited guaranteed access to individual health insurance. A policy holder insures his life for a specified term. If he dies before that specified term is up, his estate or named beneficiary(ies) receive(s) a payout.
